Call to repentance

"We live in a world that is filled with options. If we are not careful, we will find every minute jammed with social events, classes, exercise time, book clubs, scrap booking, Church callings, music, sports, the Internet, and our favorite TV shows ... Take time to listen, to laugh, and to play together."
-M. Russell Ballard

Amen Brother Ballard.

And for the visual learners (like me!), a similar reminder.

Just eyeball it!

Turns out I'm usually better at hanging photos and other such items on the wall when I'm "just eyeballing it". Or at least I think I am.

This little task might prove otherwise.

Seriously. So. Addicting.

A laugh and a thought

Happy Valentine's Day!
It's a day early, but this was in my Inbox today, so...

My initial reaction to the vintage style card was laughter (as it should be). That laughter was dampened by a sobering thought; there are many people that share those sentiments towards Peggy. They are so focused on what they don't have in comparison to what others do have.

I'm not trying to start a deep conversation about something that was meant to provide laughter, just pausing on the fact that there are a lot of unhappy and insecure people in this world who feel threatened by the success(es) of others and are desperate for acknowledgement b/c their feeling of self worth is based upon it. (Yes, that's a broad generalization for many individuals).

I was reminded today about the importance of knowing who I am (a child of God) and the value of that knowledge. It is indeed empowering and I treasure that knowledge.

M.I.A.

Missing. In. Ambition.

SO.
Swim season started again.
All my efforts to convince kids that correct body position looks like this:

Will likely end with thoughts like this:

Practices, thus far, have been great. I was reminded of the parallels between serving and coaching - both stimulating. This is a promising reminder as work is really busy and stressful right now, and almost all of my "down time" is spent studying, and completing grad school apps.

Woo-hoo! Just living the dream. Don't be jealous.
