Poster child

What?! So I'm a proud aunt.
But you have to admit, the fact that you can make your own posters is a fun idea.

And there's nothing to prove ...

There's been some recent debate over language that B.O. (dem pres candidate) used in a speech. (I am intentionally not using exact names or proper language b/c this is not a political post nor do I want any random comments to show up about campaign support, etc). The explanation that said person gave is that the exact language was "borrowed" with full permission from his close friend, with whom he shares similar ideas and views. Fair enough. The point of this is that I am not going to be controversial, nor provide an opportunity for anyone to debate my intentions. I am outright lifting this friends post. I am giving her a guest entry, whether she wants one or not! :)

Besides if you're looking for a pick-me-up, this song is your prescription.

Roll out. You must be my luckystar ...

Who doesn't want an endless supply of sushi - fresh off the conveyor belt?

This place (Luckyfish) is in Beverly Hills. Looks like a field trip is in my future. The color of the bowl correlates to the price of the sushi. Bowls/plates also come standard with microchips to indicate to the kitchen when to "cash in the chips" on the sushi (i.e. freshness factor expired).

Crap. Now I want sushi.

HAMbone

If I ever stopped laughing I could actually provide context for this picture! It makes me more than smile. Sigh.

I spent Christmas outside Austin, TX with my family. As previously posted, my brother (returned from Iraq), his wife, and their little HAMlet live there. We all went out to dinner on Christmas Eve. Therese dressed Kelton in dapper Christmas Eve get-up and we monopolized the opportunity for a post dinner photo shoot with the not-camera-shy King. He was just starting to sit so I added some background support. I'm sure at this point I'm on the floor (literally) trying to stablize the 20 pounder, but really just pulling his diaper a little too far north. Obviously the picture captures the whole experience nicely, but I haven't figured out if it's his expression, the flailing arms, or the actual memory of the experience that I enjoy the most. Regardless, all good reasons to laugh.

A few more family shots from the trip:

Let's plow!

I was driving to work and as embarassing as this is, forgot that I have a six disc changer in the back of my car. I decided to sample what I had in rotation and one of the cd's was my 2006 Valentine's Mix ("Dyslexic Heart"). This is not a self promotion, I promise!

Obviously it's a mix that I enjoy, b/c it has songs that are connected to me in some degree of importance and relevance. All of this context is to say, that the Otis Redding song, Try a Little Tenderness, which is included on that mix, became an instant favorite when I saw this movie for the first time:

Happy Valentine's Day!

And it's gone ...

gone ... going ... Gone...

It was not that long ago (September 2006) that this familiar face handed me a warm welcome upon my arrival to southern California. As previously mentioned, I wasn't thrilled about my move, so it naturally follows that I feel incredibly blessed to have had my best friend two blocks away for the past 15+ months.

Knowing that she is equally torn about her move, I'm glad that she will have familiar faces (albeit bundled beneath large amounts of winter layers) to welcome her return to wicked COLD Bah-stin!

Alas, as The Kooks would say, ... movin' on to better things!

:*(

Seriously ...

Why didn't I think of this?!

Product Plug

This is just another attempt to innocently tout the wondrous products that bear the name Jo Malone.

I revere this brand.

Commentary about my "trademark scent" aside, this specific kudos is directed to the rehabilitating power of the Vitamin E line.

Just six hours returned from a nine day vacation in the caribean, I am not sure that my time spent in paradise would have been as enjoyable sans the Jo Malone essentials.

Two examples:
1) Vitamin E Lip Treatment
To summarize: My brother Chris arrived with a pretty jacked up eye. If you really want to know the details, ask him or his wife. :) It was an obvious skin condition/abraision. It was inevitable that Vitamin D would be had by all Coopers; tere was no escape from the intensely intoxicating southern rays (unless your name is Kelton and you spend your day in the Lil' Nursery under a palm tree). Chris used my Vitamin E Lip Treatment for the first few days to help a) heal his wound and b) prevent scarring. By the third day, his "blemish" was non-existant, even upon scrutiny. (Additional plug for the lip treatment: it was also satiating to salt soaked and sun abused lips.)

2) The Vitamin E Hand Treatment
It mollified more than hands; it was a cure all for the skin, regardless of location on the body. Peeling was prolonged and that dry elasticy pull on skin was tolerable to not noticeable. It hydrates the skin.

Both life changing. Really.
