Okay, so maybe that's not how the rest of the song goes, but that's how I feel.

I spent the weekend in Chicago (a.k.a. one TERRIFIC city) for work. I had some downtime on Saturday prior to the event. The morning started with a run along Lake Michigan. Note to self: when it's 80 degrees and sunny, others will be running. I had actually thought upon initial glance that there was a road race, b/c there was a slew of other folks running.

Post run I met up with a friend from work and her boyfriend who came to keep us (okay, mainly her) company for the weekend.

We grabbed a hot dog and hit the architecture tour. I figured, why waste time getting ready when there was so much to conquer that day.

(I know, I thought the same thing: Who's cuter than sweaty me?)
We stayed at the W on Ontario and Lakershore, which overlooks Navy Pier.

I think my weekend can best be summarized through a conversation I had with my Mom.
Upon my return, she asked, "how was it?", to which I responded, "I LOVED IT!", and her reply was "oh noooooo! she's ready to move again." :)
Apparently I could not disguise the giddy excitement of a good trip in my answer. If only I was not so happy with my current life set up. Chicago will remain of top places "to live"; a perfect hybrid of Boston and New York. The weekend was a good reminder that what I enjoyed most about the East Coast was culture and history.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- The BEST pizza ... ever. Seriously.
- Our event at Adler Planetarium (hence the reason for the trip).
- The Sear's Tower (the first picture of this post is from the skydeck)
- Millenium Park

- Art Institute of Chicago (there was a special Vollard exhibit and while I admit to not being an art history buff, I gained a new appreciation for being able to recognize my own patterns in taste and preference for styles and era)

My own moment of silence for Ferris Bueller's Day Off!
I had hoped in my "silent" ambition to hit most major ball parks, to see a Cubs game, but they were on the road that weekend. Guess I'll just have to go back another time!
My current mission: seek out and experience more "culture"in my current sorroundings.
